My new artist website, www.zirconmusic.com, is now live! Over the next few weeks you’ll probably see various aesthetic and color changes to this template, but the content and general layout will remain the same. You’ll notice a whole lot of new content, such as the Discography page which contains a list of all eight of my album releases, complete with multiple purchase links and descriptions.
Other additions include six new songs available at the Music page, which is now much more streamlined, plus a completely revamped Store with new items, deals, and a better design. The whole site should be easier on the eyes and more interactive, with the ability to leave comments on any page.
As for THIS site, it isn’t defunct; it’s now next on the redesign list. Zircon Studios will become my “composer” site, featuring music I’ve written for games, TV, film, etc. You’ll be able to read about my services in detail, read testimonials, view credits, and even license music directly from a catalog of available tracks.
Long story short: visit zirconMusic from now on for my latest remixes, albums, tutorials and other ‘artist’ stuff - and stick around here if you’re interesting in my composition services / media portfolio.
After 6+ months of work, I’ve finally finished my new sample library, Groove Bias: Vintage Drum Sounds - and it is now officially available through Impact Soundworks! You can pick it up in Kontakt/EXS-24/HALion for just $99 or in Reason’s NN-XT format for $89. Just visit the Impact Soundworks store or the product page for purchase links!
Haven’t heard of Groove Bias yet? It’s a 4gb collection of old-school drum sounds, recorded using all-analog gear, vintage mics, busted consoles and, of course, TAPE. It took three separate studios to record the 3,500+ samples of 24/96 content, which comprise three custom acoustic drum kits and a set of assorted percussive instruments. Here’s a video of the library in action, courtesy of Brandon Bush:
All formats of Groove Bias are unlocked for your editing and re-mapping pleasure, and with 5-10 round robins and 5-16 velocities per switchable kit component, you’ve got a lot to play with!
You can find more audio demos and detailed product information at the product page. I’ve been having a blast with this library for months now, so I’m happy it’s now open to everybody else.
Reunion is an entirely free, electronic music netlabel located at reuniverse.org. I’ve just released two tracks from Mass Media Constant there, “Necromancy” and “Fiberoptics”, which bring my total release count to three (”Warhead” was released a year or so ago). Reunion is run by fellow OCReMixer Platonist (aka Jonas Loman) who has generously released music by a number of other remixers and friends of mine, like sgx, Siamey, FFMusic DJ (Haroon Piracha), Beatdrop, Joshua Morse, and PhiJayy.
There’s even a torrent that covers the first one-hundred tracks to be released, completely free of course (there have been seventeen new ones after that, as of this writing). What are you waiting for? Head over there and download ‘em!
Are you into social networking or social music sites? You can follow/friend/add me at any of the following to stay in touch or get more frequent zircon updates.
Sorry for the temporary downtime over the last 24 hours or so. Should all be cleared up now.
In other news, my latest album, Mass Media Constant, is now available on iTunes! It has been getting some serious attention over at the Audio Portal on Newgrounds.com, with “Necromancy” topping the all-time music charts and receiving over 1,500 reviews and 22,000 streams. “Bushido Blade” is quickly rising the ranks as well, being rated “Best of the Week” and topping the drum and bass charts.
Remember, you can grab two tracks for free at Protagonist Records, the label releasing the album. There’s plenty more great music from other artists there too!
My new drum n’ bass hybrid album is now available on Protagonist! It’s $7.99 (plus tip, should you choose) for a pristine digital download of MP3/FLAC. Can’t get much better than that; don’t forget to check out the streaming previews as well as the two full length streams available on the Protagonist homepage.
Enjoy - feel free to post your thoughts on the album here!
After its completion about half a year ago, my new drum and bass album “Mass Media Constant” is slated for release over at Protagonist Records on February 10th! I originally started this as a project for licensing - film, TV, video games and other such media (hence the name), but decided to turn it into a full EP because I was having so much fun. The final result is far more meaty than my previous EP release, The World Circuit, and I’m very excited about it.
You can check out some track previews right on the Protagonist Records site, which is also where you’ll be able to order it in digital format for just $6.99 (lossless)! Protagonist itself is an electronica specialty label founded by sgx, an awesome electronic musician and friend of mine, which has a roster filled with more awesome musicians and friends.
Anyway, my influences for Mass Media Constant range from LTJ Bukem and Photek to Wagon Christ, BT, Pendulum and The Sims, and no two tracks sound alike. When listening to this, imagine walking through a super-stylized version of Times Square at midnight on a Saturday, looking at all the billboards, hearing music coming from bars and restaurants, and watching cars and buses fly by. That’s what I had in mind when writing it - hope you enjoy!
This will be the first of at least two significant updates to this website, the second of which is coming in the next month or two. If you browse the different sections you’ll notice much of the text has been rewritten in a different, more unique style, and the Services page has been significantly expanded. Video tutorials were added to the Tutorials section as well, and my bio/gear list have both gotten a much-needed update.
Keeping this brief since there’s lots more work that needs to be done… stay tuned, and don’t forget to pick up Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix, featuring my remix Flying Heaven!
I’m proud to announce that the sampling project I have been working on with my good friend & business partner Will Roget, II is finally complete! Entitled Sitar Nation: Classical Instruments of India, this Kontakt-format sample collection contains over 2.7gb of the most detailed sitar, tampura, tabla and baya samples ever released. Our goal was to really focus on extensively sampling a select number of instruments, doing lots of articulations, velocities, round robins, multiple mic positions - the type of depth you would normally expect from a piano or violin library.
Sitar Nation was released through our company, Impact Soundworks, and it is now available for download at a price of $119. You can listen to demos at the product page as well as read much more about the samples and what was recorded. I’m very happy to have been part of this project and since its release a little over a week ago, it has been doing very well. Whether you’re a professional composer, producer, or hobbyist, I think you’ll really enjoy these sounds, which not only include traditional timbres, but highly processed and scripted patches as well.
